The Journey Plan

Day-by-Day Itinerary

We’ll pick you up from your hotel early in the morning in a pickup truck to begin our adventure. Breakfast is in the charming town of Paucartambo. You can enjoy a hot drink, eggs, pancakes, juice, and more.

The trip will continue into the Cloud Forest, where the scenery and climate change quickly. In the Cloud Forest, there will be chances to explore and look for wild animals like monkeys and birds, including the bright-red Andean Cock of the Rock.
In the late afternoon, we’ll arrive at our first lodge for dinner and some time to relax.

After dinner, we have the option to go on a night walk to look for creepy crawlies before falling asleep to the music of the jungle.

After breakfast, we’ll continue our adventure: visiting Machu Wasi Oxbow Lake to see animals and navigate in a balsa raft. Afterward, we’ll continue on the road, looking for animals along the way until we reach the Native Community of Shintuya. There, we will catch a boat for a short ride across the river to a local Hot Springs where you can go swimming in hot and cold water, relaxing, and always looking for wildlife. We’ll return to the car on the other side of the river for a picnic lunch, ready to finish the trip to the Jungle Bungalow and Nuevo Eden. On the way, we will see huge trees along the road, and search for toucans and macaws.  Arriving at the Bungalow, you will get settled and rest a little bit, enjoying the beautiful jungle surrounding the house.

In the afternoon, you’ll walk to see the local birds at their most active time of day, just before sunset. Once the daylight is gone, your guide will scope out insects, frogs, and snakes and lead you on a night walk. followed by dinner.

After breakfast, your guide will lead you on a nature hike, spending a few exploring the primary forest, learning about medicinal plants, and more. Lunch will be waiting for you in the Bungalow after your hike, and you’ll have some time to relax.

In the late afternoon, we’ll set off to the camouflage house overlooking a clay lick. It is a tall platform with a roof and railings for 1 night to enjoy being outdoors overnight, looking out for tapirs and other mammals visiting the clay lick for a midnight snack.  We will bring a “picnic dinner” and enjoy a 360-degree experience sleeping in the jungle. You will be provided with moquito nets and a mattress, you will need a sleeping bag* and a camping pillow.

*Can be rented

We’ll head back to the Bungalow early in the morning for breakfast and prepare to explore the jungle some more. Your guide will continue to explain about the jungle, and the interrelation between plants and animals in this marvelous ecosystem. You’ll also have a chance to catch fish, which you can have for dinner! Later in the day, we will see where we grow cacao, bananas, and other crops. We’ll have a special jungle-themed dinner to celebrate our last night in Nuevo Eden.

We’ll leave the Bungalow early in the morning, and make a couple of stops on the way to Cusco to see as many animals and birds as possible!  You will be dropped off at your hotel around 7 or 8 pm.
